Software

  • Laser Show Designer 1000 (Amiga) - LSD1000  was Pangolin's first commercial software, this full functioning program originally cost $995. It is now available to help hobbyists, experimenters, and those on a budget to get started with laser light shows.

Two DOS utilities [as .zip files] for those working on ILDA frame format import/export contributed by O. Steven Roberts.  He writes, "These utilities are for for hobbyists and others who are developing tools for ILDA frame format file support [to import/export .ild files] and who need a sanity check as Pangolin and X29 are merciless when it comes to errors in a .ild file. Programming is by Mike Svob".

  • ILDAWRITE.EXE [ILDAwrite.zip - 32 Kb] Takes a .txt file containing human readable numbers and converts it to an ILDA format frame. The input file format is the number of points(N) ,then the 3 axis data for the frame as a signed integer N,x,y,z,x,y,z,x,y,z... where x,y, and Z are +10,000 to -10,000, for a 2D frame, make all Zs equal to zero.
It will prompt you for the file name to create and then create the file and exit back to the dos prompt. All points are set to full white and blanking is NOT supported. A sample input file, ildawrt.txt is provided. Note that there is a carriage return and line feed between each number. ILDAWRITE.exe is fully compatible with files written by Qbasic, Quickbasic, Visualbasic and Notepad, making it easy to create raw files for conversion. I've also used this to create liquid sky framesets using numbers generated by a basic program. The programs do not
support crossing directories, so the files must all be in the same directory.
  • ILDAREAD.EXE [ReadILD.zip - 36 KB] This utility strips a one frame ilda file to a text based n,x,y,z format, where N is the number of points in the frame and x,y,z are signed integer point data, so the output is N,X,Y,Z,X,Y,Z..... The actual data will appear as a vertical list with one coordinate data per line. Color data and blanking data are NOT provided. Cross directory support is not provided, both the input and output files MUST be in the same directory. if ildaread.exe spots a error in a ILDA file header, it will tell you what the error is.

Caprice Pain4fem Better -

While some models are typecast into a single persona, Caprice has shown a range that keeps the content fresh. From the defiant brat who needs to be broken, to the willing submissive accepting her fate, her versatility adds a layer of replay value that is rare in the industry. This adaptability ensures that every release feels unique, rather than a repetition of the same script.

“Caprice” = whim or a username; “pain4fem” = pain for female characters or players; “better” = improvement.

Essay: Digital Bodies and Designed Discomfort
In many video games, female avatars suffer unique vulnerabilities — smaller hitboxes but also more punishing animations for pain. “Caprice” (a whim of the designer) creates “pain4fem” as a feature, not a bug. Saying “better” demands rebalancing: not removing all pain (since challenge is core to games) but ensuring it’s not gendered. A better caprice would be one where pain mechanics serve narrative, not stereotype.

Given the ambiguity, the most coherent essay likely interprets “caprice” as unpredictable suffering, “pain4fem” as gendered pain, and “better” as a call for equity. If you can clarify the intended domain (music, medicine, gaming, or something else), I can provide a focused, citation-ready essay.

I’m not sure what you mean by “caprice pain4fem better.” Do you mean:

Pick an option (1–3) or briefly clarify and I’ll draft the complete piece accordingly. If you want me to decide, say “Decide for me.”

If "caprice" refers to a musical caprice (e.g., Paganini’s Caprices), "pain" could be a typo for "piano" or "pan" (steel pan), "fem" for "femme" or "female," and "better" as a comparative.

Essay: The Female Virtuoso and the Caprice
The caprice, as a musical form, tests technical endurance and expressive daring. Historically, female performers were discouraged from such displays. “Pain” here may refer to the physical and social pain of breaking into a male-dominated space. When a female musician plays a caprice “better,” she reclaims virtuosity not as aggression but as nuanced command. The phrase “caprice pain4fem better” could be a compressed manifesto: for women, mastering the caprice is both painful and redemptive.

Unlike passive pain killers, the Pain4fem Better retrains the brain’s map of the painful area. Over 6 weeks of use, patients experience not just symptom relief but lasting correction of dysfunctional movement patterns.
