Kiyomaro stared at his trembling hands, then at the panting, exhausted boy who had just saved his life. The boy who couldn’t make toast but would stand against a monster for a stranger.
“Okay,” Kiyomaro said, his usual smirk gone, replaced by something fragile and real. “Tell me everything.”
