The first time Xenia encounters a new shader—say, an explosion or a character’s special ability—it compiles it on the spot. This compilation takes milliseconds, but during that time, the game freezes. Play the same level again, and the freeze disappears because the shader is now cached. Start Xenia and load your game

Think of shaders as tiny instructions telling your graphics card how to draw light, shadows, water, and explosions. Every time Xenia encounters a new visual effect, it has to pause, compile that shader, and then continue.
A shader cache is a pre-recorded file of all those compiled instructions. Instead of compiling on the fly (causing stutter), Xenia just reads the cache. Butter smooth.
Without cache: 30 FPS with micro-freezes every 2 seconds. With cache: Locked 60 FPS (or original framerate) with zero stutter.
