The Notorious B.i.g. -biggie Smalls- - Discogra... Page
Ready to Die was certified Diamond (10x Platinum) and reinvented East Coast Hip-Hop during the West Coast dominance of the G-Funk era.
Here is where Biggie fans have to be careful. Because he died so young, the label has released a lot of "new" music. Is it all worth your time? The Notorious B.I.G. -Biggie Smalls- - Discogra...
1. Born Again (1999) The Vibe: A desperate cash grab... but a fun one. The Problem: Biggie didn’t record these verses for these beats. The producers took old vocal takes (some from demo tapes, some from guest verses) and stitched them onto late-90s production. Should you listen? Only for the Lil Kim duet and the "Dead Wrong" track with Eminem. Otherwise, skip it. Ready to Die was certified Diamond (10x Platinum)
2. Duets: The Final Chapter (2005) The Vibe: A remix album pretending to be a real album. The Problem: They put Biggie’s vocals over modern beats with guests like Korn, Snoop, and Eminem. It sounds like a DJ mashup. Should you listen? Rare. Only if you are a completionist. The "Spit Your Game" remix with Twista and Krayzie Bone is fire; the rest is noise. You cannot understand Biggie without his features
3. Greatest Hits (2007) The Vibe: The only posthumous album you actually need. The Verdict: Yes, it’s a compilation, but it fixes the mess of Born Again. It includes the essentials plus one incredible unreleased track: "Running Your Mouth" (feat. Snoop, Fab, & Mase).
You cannot understand Biggie without his features. He famously bodied everyone on his own tracks, but he also stole the show on everyone else’s.
