In English grammar, a Function is the purpose for which we use a sentence. It is not about the tense (Past/Present), but about the situation.

Used to ask questions (Wh- questions).

In the GSEB curriculum, grammar is not tested via rote learning (e.g., "What is a clause?"). Instead, it is tested via Functions. A function is the purpose of a sentence. For example, why is the speaker saying this? Are they showing regret? Making a request? Expressing a condition? Used to ask questions (Wh- questions)

Exam Pattern: Out of 50 marks in Section C (Grammar), approximately 6 to 8 marks are dedicated solely to identifying and using Functions.
