03301 MATERIALS A. Concrete blocks shall conform to Abu Dhabi Municipality standards regarding thermal insulation and density. B. Mortar shall consist of cement, lime (optional), and sand mixed in proportions specified (typically 1:4 to 1:6 cement:sand ratio by volume).
03302 EXECUTION A. Blocks shall be laid in a running bond pattern unless specified otherwise. B. Jointing: Joints shall be tooled to a concave finish. No "furrowing" of bed joints is permitted. C. Control Joints: Provide control joints every 6m or as shown on architectural drawings to control thermal cracking. D. Ties: Wall ties shall be provided at 450mm vertical spacing and 900mm horizontal spacing to connect leaves of cavity walls.
