Most folding bikes require a compromise: "It rides like a folding bike." The SP Furo 22 destroys that phrase.

But then the letters started.

This is where the Furo 22 shines. The 22-inch wheels roll over potholes that would swallow a 16-inch Brompton wheel. The longer wheelbase (due to the vertical fold design) means the bike feels stable at speed. You do not get the "twitchy" steering sensation common in smaller folders.

The negatives? The bike is not as compact when folded as a Brompton. Also, the vertical fold means the chain/belt stays in tension, which is great, but the magnetic frame catches (used to hold the fold) can feel a little flimsy compared to latches. This is where the Furo 22 shines

The boat planes quickly, often in under 4 seconds. The handling is responsive without being twitchy. Because of the foam-filled hull, the ride is quiet; there is no hollow "slap" often associated with lesser constructed fiberglass boats.

We tested the fold time. With practice, you can collapse the SP Furo 22 in under 15 seconds. Unlike some folders that require removing the seatpost or turning handlebars sideways, the Furo 22 uses a one-touch folding stem. The pedals fold in, the bike stands on its own when folded (via the rear rack magnet), and you can roll it on its two wheels like a small luggage cart.
