Simodrive 611 Error 607 🔥

Electrolytic capacitors age over time (typically 7-10 years). As their Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) increases, voltage ripple and peak voltages become harder to regulate, making the drive falsely trigger Error 607 even with normal loads.

If hardware is healthy but the error persists on rare occasions, adjust these Siemens parameters (accessed via SimoCom U):

| Parameter | Description | Recommended Change | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | P0860 | Ramp-down time | Increase by 20-50% to reduce regeneration peak | | P0864 | Braking resistor power rating | Ensure it matches actual resistor wattage | | P0868 | DC link overvoltage threshold | Rarely changed (factory set). Lowering is unsafe. | | P0890 | Dynamic braking response | Set to "faster" if chopper is slow to engage |

Warning: Lowering the overvoltage threshold (if accessible) is dangerous and can mask real hardware faults. Never do this without consulting Siemens support.

The SIMODRIVE 611 is now considered legacy/phase-out by Siemens (replaced by SINAMICS S120). However, thousands remain in service. For error 607: simodrive 611 error 607

This error can be caused by external power supply issues or internal drive component failures. The most common causes include:

  • Internal Drive Issues:

  • The AC supply feeding the drive module may be unstable.

Machine: 5-axis CNC machining center with Simodrive 611 on the Z-axis. Electrolytic capacitors age over time (typically 7-10 years)

Symptom: Error 607 occurred only during rapid downward moves when the heavy spindle head was decelerating near the workpiece.

Initial diagnosis: Replaced braking resistor – no change. Replaced power module – error returned after 2 weeks.

Root cause found: The mechanical counterbalance cylinder had lost nitrogen pressure. The axis was 40% heavier than design, causing excessive regenerative energy. After recharging the cylinder to spec, error disappeared permanently.

Lesson: Always verify the mechanical system. Error 607 is not always electrical. The SIMODRIVE 611 is now considered legacy/phase-out by

At its core, Error 607 signals: "DC link overvoltage" (also described in some documentation as "Regenerative feedback monitoring" or "Overvoltage in the intermediate circuit").

To put it simply, the SIMODRIVE 611 has detected that the voltage in its internal DC bus—the central power reservoir that feeds the drive’s inverter stages—has exceeded safe operating limits. In a typical 3-phase AC drive system, the rectifier converts incoming AC into DC (usually around 565–620V for 400V systems). Error 607 triggers when this voltage rises above a critical threshold (typically > 820V DC).

This isn't a "warning" level; it's a protective shutdown. The drive is essentially saying: "I am about to self-destruct, so I'm shutting down immediately to save the IGBTs and capacitors."
