Use command-line deployment via msiexec:

msiexec /p "path\to\patch.msp" /quiet /norestart

Or use Microsoft Configuration Manager to push patches to hundreds of workstations.

Cause: Office 2016 updates are optional in some Windows settings.
Fix: Go to Windows Update → Advanced Options → Enable "Receive updates for other Microsoft products."
