Paperport 12 Serial Number

Kofax now owns the PaperPort line. They generally do not support versions older than PaperPort 14. However, if you have proof of purchase (receipt, email, CD case), you can try opening a ticket at https://www.kofax.com/support. Be prepared for a response saying “this product is end-of-life” – but occasionally they will provide a replacement key as a courtesy.

PaperPort 12 was a popular document management and scanning application developed by Nuance Communications (later acquired by Kofax). Its peak popularity was roughly between 2010 and 2014, especially among home offices and small businesses that needed to:

Today, PaperPort 12 is considered abandoned or legacy software – Nuance no longer sells it, and Kofax (current owner) has moved on to newer versions like PaperPort 14 and their cloud-based solutions. That’s why many users struggle to find their old serial numbers.

Note: On modern Windows 10/11, PaperPort 12 may not run correctly, but the registry entry might still be present if you migrated from an old installation.

But here’s the good news: You don’t need PaperPort 12 anymore. Far better (and often free) alternatives exist today.
