Mist Survival: V20241230 Early Access
One of the biggest complaints during the previous early access builds (v2024.10) was that survival was too forgiving. You could eat one can of beans and run a marathon. That is gone.
v20241230 introduces a "Macro & Micro Nutrient" system. You now need to balance Carbs (energy), Proteins (muscle repair), and Vitamins (immunity). If you eat only wild berries and mushrooms for three in-game days, your character will develop "Scurvy-Like Symptoms," causing random bleeding and blurry vision.
Conversely, eating only meat leads to "Keto Crash," reducing your sprint speed by 40%. You are no longer just fighting mutants; you are fighting malnutrition.
Score: 8/10 (for the current build)
Mist Survival v20241230 is a bold statement. It takes a game that was often criticized for being a generic zombie-survival clone and turns it into a gritty, physiological horror show. The nutrient system is annoying (in a good way), and the new mist layers force you to plan your looting runs like a military operation.
If you haven't played since the Summer of 2024, now is the time to reinstall. Just remember to bring a gas mask… and a multivitamin.
Mist Survival is available on PC via Steam Early Access. The v20241230 update is live now.
The story of Mist Survival (v20241230 Early Access) is set in a world devastated three years ago by a mysterious virus pandemic. This outbreak turned much of the population into flesh-hungry "infected" that mutated and now hunt in the dark. The Core Premise Mist Survival v20241230 Early Access
The Immune Few: You play as one of the rare individuals naturally immune to the virus. While the mist itself won't turn you, the monsters it brings are a constant threat.
The Mist: A dense, mysterious fog that can roll in at any time. When it does, the sunlight is blocked, allowing the infected to leave their dark shelters and hunt in the open.
A World in Ruins: Society has collapsed, leaving you to scavenge for food, water, and medical supplies while building fortified shelters to withstand both the infected and hostile human bandits. Story Updates (2024-2025)
In recent versions, the narrative has expanded through Survivor Quests:
The Survivor Camp: You can encounter NPCs like James and Gian at a survivor camp.
Gian’s Arc: A significant early-access storyline involves saving Gian, who is badly injured. You must venture into dangerous areas to scavenge critical medical supplies—antibiotics, painkillers, gauze, and syringes—to prevent her from dying.
Building a Community: Beyond just your own survival, the story shifts toward helping other survivors and recruiting them to join your camp to rebuild a small semblance of society. One of the biggest complaints during the previous
