As of late 2024/early 2025, Microsoft has changed the Media Feature Pack to be automatically offered via Windows Update for N editions.
Hot tip: After clean-installing Windows 11 24H2 N, the pack may appear under Optional updates – install it before any apps.
Microsoft provides it through Settings (not direct download for Windows 11 – older OS versions had standalone .msu files).
The Media Feature Pack is an optional add-on for Windows 11 N and Windows 11 KN editions.
These editions are sold in Europe (and South Korea for KN) to comply with antitrust rulings requiring Microsoft to ship Windows without bundled media technologies (Windows Media Player, codecs, etc.).
