If you have 50 PT8100s, do not program each manually. After the first radio is perfect, read it into the software. Save the file as master_template.rdt. Then for each new radio: Connect > Write > Select file. This ensures consistency.

Beyond basic frequency entry, the CPS offers hidden capabilities:

Under Menu Setting > Squelch, you have levels 0 (open) to 9 (tight). Default is 5. In high-RF interference areas (near cellular towers), increase to 7 or 8.

You can password-lock the codeplug so that an employee with the cable cannot change frequencies. Warning: Do not lose this password. There is no universal backdoor for the PT8100 without a factory reset via specialized equipment.

Set a TOT (e.g., 60 seconds). If a user holds PTT for longer than 60 seconds, the radio stops transmitting. This saves battery and prevents stuck microphones from jamming the channel.

Since the PT8100 is discontinued, you might not find official support from Kirisun.com. If the original software is impossible to locate, consider these alternatives:

The most frequent complaint about the Kirisun PT8100 programming software is the dreaded "Communication Timeout" or "Check cable connection" error. Here is a diagnostic checklist:

Error 1: Cannot Open COM Port

Error 2: Read Failed / Timeout at 50%

Error 3: "Model Mismatch"

Error 4: USB Cable Recognized but Radio Silent

Navigate to Program > Common Setting > BCL. Set to "On". This prevents users from transmitting on a channel that is currently in use, reducing interference.
