The brilliance of V10 SE lies in its user interface. You are presented with a family tree that looks like a corporate flowchart. Each member has three stats: Genetic Drift (how far they deviate from the "original template"), Attachment (loyalty to the Keeper), and Taboo (a hidden value that increases when two relatives interact).
If Taboo gets too high, characters experience "Cognitive Rupture"—they flee the habitat, commit acts of self-destruction, or, in a chilling game-over screen, send the Keeper a single line of broken code: "We are not numbers."
To succeed, you must keep Taboo low while encouraging "Kin Mergers." How? By engineering emotional crises. Isolate two siblings on the hydroponics deck during an oxygen scrub. Assign an aunt and nephew to the same "memory realignment" shift. The game doesn't force you to do this—it merely makes the alternative (genetic drift leading to ecological collapse and the silent, screaming death of the entire habitat) far worse. The UI has been completely rebuilt. Previously, looking at the kinship web was like reading a plate of spaghetti. The new V10 SE interface color-codes emotional contagion (Red for Rage, Blue for Grief, Gold for Lust) and allows you to "prune" dead branches without ending your run.
