Once logged in:

  • Ensure Windows updates or antivirus scans won’t interrupt the install.

    Click the download button. You will typically get an executable (.exe) or a compressed archive (.zip). Save it to a local folder, not a network drive, to avoid installation errors. Once logged in:

    Responsible administrators should also download the MD5 or SHA256 checksum file. After downloading, verify the checksum to ensure the file has not been corrupted during transit. Use a tool like certutil or 7-Zip to compare hashes. Stop services:

    Critical: Check the release date and read the accompanying Release Notes (usually a PDF or HTML link). The release notes list exactly which bugs are fixed. Also, verify the file size—UPDs range from 100 MB to over 1 GB.

    A successful EPLAN download UPD is only half the battle. Installation must be performed correctly.
