The story begins in 1985 with the release of Déjame decir que te amo. Produced while Arjona was still a teacher at a rural school, this album remains a obscure curiosity. With a sound deeply rooted in the kitsch electronic pop of the 80s, it bears little resemblance to his later work. Arjona himself often dismisses this era, considering his true artistic birth to have occurred years later.

That rebirth happened in 1993 with Animal Nocturno. This album was the dividing line between the anonymous singer and the star. With raw production and lyrics that blended visceral eroticism with everyday realities, songs like "Mujeres" and "Primera Vez" shattered the polished mold of Latin ballads. Arjona proved that a man could sing about heartbreak while wearing a leather jacket and sporting an unshaven look.
