Diagbox Windows 11 «720p»
Modern versions of DiagBox (v9.68 to v9.91) use virtualization to boot a hidden Linux environment for flashing ECUs. Windows 11’s Hyper-V and Core Isolation (Memory Integrity) can block this nested virtualization, causing DiagBox to freeze at 51%, 66%, or 89% installation.
DiagBox is not natively compatible with Windows 11 in a default configuration, but can be made functional by:
However, due to stability limitations (3-hour max runtime) and increased latency, the recommended approach for professional use is to run DiagBox inside a Windows 7 virtual machine under Windows 11. For occasional hobbyist use, native installation with security features disabled is acceptable but not advised for networked environments.
Future work: Reverse-engineer the VCI communication layer to write a native Windows 11 driver or port DiagBox functions to OpenDiag. diagbox windows 11
If you attempt to install Diagbox on Windows 11, you will likely encounter these errors:
This stops the "No VMs" error.
Go to: Control Panel → Programs and Features → Turn Windows features on or off.
Uncheck:
Reboot immediately after.
It is important to note that DiagBox is being phased out by Stellantis (PSA's parent company). The replacement is SRL (Système de Résolution à Distance) or PAD (Pôle Aftermarket Diagnostic) .

DiagBox (and its successor, the newer "DiagBox 9.x" which is closer to PSA’s ServiceBox diagnostic suite) was never designed for Windows 11. In fact, the last officially supported operating systems for stable versions (7.x, 8.x) were Windows 7 (32-bit) and, with significant caveats, Windows 10 (32-bit). Windows 11 represents a triple threat to DiagBox:
Yet thousands of DIY mechanics and small garages still run DiagBox on Windows 11. How? Via virtualization, driver hardening bypasses, and careful version selection.
DiagBox can run on Windows 11, but not out-of-the-box. The required modifications (disabling HVCI, enabling test signing) reduce security posture, making this unsuitable for production shop networks connected to the internet. For standalone diagnostic laptops, the risk is acceptable. Modern versions of DiagBox (v9
