Ddnet Texture Packs Updated Guide
Many users give up because they drag files into the wrong folder. Here is the correct process for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Step 1: Locate your DDNet Data Directory
Step 2: Understand the file types
Updated packs usually come as a .zip or .rar containing two critical files: ddnet texture packs updated
Step 3: Backup the defaults
Rename the existing ddnet.png and ddnet_entities.png in your data/ folder to ddnet_old.png and ddnet_entities_old.png. Never delete them.
Step 4: Copy the new files
Drag the new ddnet.png and ddnet_entities.png into the data/ folder. Overwrite if prompted. Many users give up because they drag files
Step 5: Force reload in game
Launch DDNet. Go to Settings -> Graphics -> Reset Textures. If that doesn’t work, type reset textures in the console (F1).

Important: The game does not auto-update texture packs. A pack made for Teeworlds 0.6.x may still work in DDNet (latest: 18.x), but missing new entities (e.g., teleport tiles, gores tiles) will show as pink/black checkers.
For nostalgic players who hate change. This takes the 2016 DDrace default look and backports all new entities into that classic palette.
Important: Do not just drag and drop over your old files. This update changes the file structure to support .png and .webp.
