"Error 504 typically indicates a network timeout between your Mac and our update servers. We have seen an increase in users misinterpreting this error when using third-party distribution files like 'AppDoze' or 'MacDownloader' stubs. These are not authorized by MacPaw. The only safe way to update CleanMyMac X is via the in-app updater or direct download from macpaw.com."

Why does the error say "appdozedmg updated"? Because the stub file (AppDoze.dmg) checks a remote manifest for its own version. If the manifest returns a newer version of the stub but the CDN times out (504), you get:

This does not mean CleanMyMac X itself is broken. It means the delivery system used by that specific third-party downloader is broken.
