Roms Verified — Chd Psx
After conversion, how do you know it’s “verified”? You must extract the CHD’s embedded SHA1 hash.
Run:
chdman verify -i "Game.chd"
This will output metadata. Look for the SHA1 of the original disc. Compare that SHA1 to the Redump database. If it matches, your CHD is 100% verified. chd psx roms verified
Alternatively, drag your CHD into a tool like CHDScan or RomVault configured with the PSX DAT. RomVault will automatically read the CHD and check if its internal structure matches the official set.
Author: Aaron Giles (primary architect of the CHD format for MAME) After conversion, how do you know it’s “verified”
While this started as internal documentation for the MAME emulator, it has become the de facto technical standard. It outlines how the format handles:
Redump focuses on disc image integrity. Their DATs are the most widely accepted for “verified” PSX ROMs. When a CHD is Redump-verified, it means the source BIN/CUE was a perfect disc copy. Redump does not directly distribute CHDs but supports the format via DATs. This will output metadata
Your verification tool says "Good", but the emulator crashes. Your hard drive might have bad sectors, or your download was interrupted but the hash still matched (rare). Try re-downloading.
Sometimes you don’t have access to DAT managers. Here are quick red flags that your CHD is not verified:
The Internet Archive hosts many software collections under "Preservation" exemptions. Look for collections labeled "Redump Sony PlayStation CHD" from reputable uploaders. Always check the comments for verification status. No-Intro focuses on cartridge-based systems but their verification philosophy aligns with Redump.
