Chained Soldier Manga ⟶ <SAFE>

The Chained Soldier Manga is a guilty pleasure that refuses to apologize for what it is. It is a masterclass in "battle harem" execution. It takes the leashing of a protagonist, a trope that could be offensive or boring, and turns it into a metaphor for mutual reliance.

Yuuki needs the Captains to fight. The Captains need Yuuki to evolve. Every battle raises the stakes, every "Reward" develops their relationships, and every chapter leaves you wanting more.

Score: 8.5/10

For fans of Highschool DxD, Fire Force, or Akame ga Kill!, the Chained Soldier Manga is your next obsession. It is a visceral, funny, and beautifully drawn journey into the heart of darkness—one chain link at a time.

Art Verdict: 10/10 for the double-page spread of [Describe scene]. For fans of Highschool DxD , Fire Force

Chained Soldier is a surprisingly robust action manga wrapped in a lewd but self-aware package. Takahiro’s knack for interesting power systems and ensemble casts, combined with Takemura’s crisp, expressive art, elevates it above typical ecchi fare. As the series barrels toward its climax with the Thunder Gods unleashed and Yuuki’s true potential yet to be realized, now is an excellent time to catch up on this wild, rewarding (pun intended) ride.

Final Verdict: If you can get past the fan service, you’ll find a compelling underdog story and a creatively brutal battle system. If you stay for the fan service, you’ll also find a surprisingly heartfelt story about loyalty and found family.

The anime adaptation of Mato Seihei no Slave, produced by studio Seven Arcs (known for Sekirei and Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai), aired in Winter 2024. While the animation quality was inconsistent during action sequences, the adaptation did two things perfectly:

Since the anime aired, manga sales have surged by over 300%. Volume 15, which features a dramatic battle between Yuuki and a rogue member of the Corps, became a bestseller on Bookwalker and Amazon Japan. For new fans, the anime ends around Chapter 55 of the manga, leaving a massive amount of unadapted (and increasingly intense) content to read.
