Bandicam uses a lifetime license system. A key purchased today for v7.x will work on v2.1.2.740, as Bandisoft maintains backward compatibility with their licensing algorithm.

For its time, v2.1.2.740 was efficient. It could record 1080p gameplay at 30–60 fps on mid-range hardware (e.g., Intel Core i3/i5 with 4 GB RAM and a DirectX 9-capable GPU). The lag-free recording feature worked well for many users, as it prioritized GPU-based capture.

This version did not yet include:

Fix: The original MP4 muxer in this build has a known PTS (presentation timestamp) bug. Always record to AVI container. Use VirtualDub or HandBrake to transcode to MP4 afterward.
