While PDMS has native clash checking (Clash Detective), SP4.52 improved the export to Navisworks (NWD/NWC). This service pack fixed the "tessellation error" that often caused circular pipes to appear as hexagons in collision reports.

AVEVA officially announced end-of-life (EOL) for PDMS 12.x several years ago. There are no new hotfixes. However, because SP4.52 is a "frozen" build, it is incredibly stable. Many companies use it in "maintenance mode"—running on isolated virtual machines (VMs) with no internet access.
If you are training new engineers, be aware: Learning SP4.52 teaches you the logic of plant design, but the commands are obsolete. Modern E3D users often mock the "green screen" command line.
