For the independent designer or student who works alone, live syncing is acceptable. Here is the optimal setup:

If you frequently collaborate:

Google Drive is best for single-user backup or simple file exchange, not real-time multi-user CAD.

Do not use special characters in folder names (#, %, &, +). Google Drive struggles to sync these, and Inventor hates them. Stick to letters, numbers, underscores, and dashes.

🔁 Use FreeFileSync (free) or rsync to sync local folder to Drive.

Share a link with “Viewer” access. They can open in Autodesk Viewer (web) without Inventor installed.
