Astro’s Playroom is a celebration of PlayStation history and a showcase of the DualSense controller's capabilities. Originally a pack-in title for the PS5, interest in a PC version has spiked following the announcement of the sequel, Astro Bot.
Here is everything you need to know about downloading and installing the game on a computer.
Astro’s Playroom is a PS5 exclusive game (pre-installed on every PS5).
Sony has not released it for Windows or any other platform.
If you see a website offering “Astro’s Playroom PC download”, it is fake, a scam, or a malware risk. Do not download from such sites.
Astro’s Playroom is a proprietary PlayStation title and is not officially released for PC. Installing or running copyrighted console-only games on PC via unofficial copies, ROMs, disc images, or circumvention of console protections may violate copyright law and the game’s terms of service. This guide focuses on legal alternatives and responsible steps; do not attempt to obtain or use unauthorized copies.
Let’s rip the band-aid off immediately: There is currently no official way to download or install Astro’s Playroom natively on Windows or Linux.
Unlike God of War, Spider-Man, or Horizon Zero Dawn, Astro’s Playroom is one of the few remaining Sony titles tethered strictly to the PS5. The reason is technical and philosophical. The game was built from the ground up to demonstrate the PlayStation 5’s specific architecture—specifically the SSD speed and the haptic feedback capabilities of the DualSense controller.
Sony has not announced a PC port for the game. Because the game is relatively short (a 4-5 hour experience) and was given away for free on PS5, the financial incentive to port it is lower than a massive RPG like The Last of Us. However, the recent success of Astro Bot has changed the calculus; the franchise is now Sony's mascot IP, making a future PC release more plausible than ever.
