As of this writing (June 2025), the modding community has moved on. The latest mods require Game Update 18 and the Python 36 Loader v2.0+. There is no public crack for Update 18. Even if a crack appears in the future, mod loaders will have advanced further, and you will be playing catch-up forever.

Some mod loaders perform a checksum verification on Anno1800.exe. If the .exe has been modified by a crack (which it always has), the loader might refuse to run. However, the most popular mod loader—the one originally developed by xForce and maintained by the Anno 1800 Modding Discord—does not actively block cracked .exe files. It simply hooks into the running process.
The real blocker isn’t the loader; it’s the crack itself. Aggressive cracks that hook deeply into the game’s memory may conflict with the mod loader’s hooks, causing a race condition. The result? The game launches, but mods don’t load, or the game freezes on the initialization screen.
